gOS 3 Gadgets Release

It's been too long, as usual, since our last blog post. Since then, we released the final edition of gOS 3 Gadgets.

What's new in the release:
  • A new release of Google Gadgets which has all major bug fixes
  • User interface improvements
  • An updated, more secure Ubuntu 8.04.1 base
  • General bug fixes here and there
Please enjoy :-)

Just installed gOS Gadgets on an old laptop that was struggling with both XP and Ubuntu 7.10. Much snappier on gOS. My kids are very interested in it as well and are wondering when I'll put it on the rest of the computers in the house....

Hi,

Are you planning on releasing a release map? So we can see what to expect in upcoming releases and when they're planned?

Also, will there be minor gOS updates or will there be only ubuntu updates?

I'm wondering if you would switch back to enlightenment. I thought that layout was pretty cool.

Has Google called yet?
You keep releasing totally unique and new versions of this operating system I wonder if you have any real focus except trying to attract their attention.
I can't keep up with all the different versions and have moved on.
Good luck to you, sir. They're bound to extend that offer to you some day.

I tried this out and thought it was good. I like the changes that were made, and I would love to see a ppc port or perhaps maybe a few installtion packages that could be installed on ppc debian or the ppc community version of ubuntu.

Unfortunately as much as I like the overall gOS theme, using Google Gadgets presents the user with a major security hole in the system when on the net. The only way around this security breach is to remove google gadgets or don't go on the net. gOS users need to be aware of this and make their own decisions on what to do.
